Soyabean Manchurian
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Soyabean chunks
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (Maida)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 capsicum, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp tomato ketchup
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
For the sauce:
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 capsicum, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp cornflour
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
Instructions:
- Boil soyabean chunks in water for 5 minutes. Drain the water and keep aside.
- In a mixing bowl, add the boiled soyabean chunks, cornflour, all-purpose flour, 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp tomato ketchup, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a wok for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, drop the soyabean chunks and fry till they turn golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
- In a separate pan, heat oil and add chopped onions, capsicum, green chillies, ginger paste and garlic paste. Saute for a minute.
- Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup, red chilli powder and salt. Mix well.
- In a small bowl, mix cornflour with water and add it to the pan. Stir continuously and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fried soyabean chunks to the sauce and mix well.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.
